CM inaugurates various developmental works of Directorate of Employment and Training
Gandhinagar, Thursday: Chief Minister of the state Mr. Vijay Rupani inaugurated the state wide Employment Fair organised by the Directorate of Employment and Training. The CM also dedicated 26 ITI institutes built at a cost of Rs.196 crores. In addition to this, he also congratulated the newly appointed principals and students with an excellent performance in academics and honoured institutes providing the finest training.
In his address, the CM stated, “Skill India will be the foundation of development in the days to come. Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi is dedicated in his mission to empower the youth of the nation through skill development. This will create a demand of 57 lakh skilled workers in Gujarat by 2022. The ITIs of the state have provided training to 17 lakh youths so far.”
The state government has established 287 government training and skill development institutes for training the youth. The uses of modern technology in such institutes help the youth to be at par with the global changing patterns. Gujarat is firm in its resolve to lead the nation in ‘Make in India’ and ‘Skill India’. The CM threw a light on the achievements made by the state in these schemes.
Employment is the key for liberation from the shackles of poverty and unemployment. The CM advised newly appointed principals to initiate new courses with their knowledge and expertise.
During the event, Mr. Rupani launched two applications SIMPLE (Shram Inspection Mobile Portal for Labour and Employer) and SACHET (Safety and Comprehensive Health Environment Test). The former will be used for ensuring transparency in labour inspection and uploading inspection remarks on the spot while the latter will used to monitor the working conditions in industrial units.
The CM also provided Letters of Appreciation (LOA) to Honda Motorcycles and Scooter India for establishing a modern lab in 20 ITIs, LOA to Quest Alliance for providing skill development training to ITI students and LOA to Pidilite Industries Limited increasing skill development through their innovative projects as knowledge partner. Mr. Rupani had a conversation with trainees of Kubernagar ITI and Suzuki Motors Gujarat through a video conference.
Minister of Labour and Employment Mr. Dilipkumar Thakor said, “Gujarat leads India in providing the highest employment. As per a report published by the Chandigarh Labour Bureau, 50 youth out of 1000 are unemployed in the entire nation whereas in Gujarat, there are only 9 in 1000. As many as 77 thousand youth have undergone training as a part of the Mukhyamantri Apprenticeship Yojana initiated by Chief Minister Mr. Rupani. At present, 66 thousand youths are availing training under the same.”
Lakhs of people have been employed in the last three years through Employment Fairs organised by the state government. The government has earmarked a target of employing more than 35 thousand youth through the current employment fair.
27 mobile vans will be operational in various cities, under SACHET, for providing health and medical facilities to shramyogis. A sum of Rs.15 crores has been allocated for the same. Chief Secretary Dr. J.N Singh, Principal Secretary to CM Mr. M.K Das, senior officials of government, representatives of ITI and a number of trainees were present during the event.
