CM : New traffic rules to be implemented in the state from 16th September, 2019

Gandhinagar, Tuesday: The Central Government , from 1st September 2019, implemented The Motors Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2019 which is based on the recommendations of the Group of Transport Ministers of State. As many as 400 amendments have been made in 93 Articles. 24 out of 93 Articles lay down the penalties for transporters, government officers, vehicle producers etc.The Act is a resolve to ensure safety of people on road and ensure that people comply with traffic rules and regulations. It includes a set of heavy fines for violators in addition to imprisonment of up to one month for over-speeding and racing and up to six months for offences like accidents. The new act has also introduced stricter laws for juveniles on road thereby cautioning their parents.

Keeping the aforesaid in mind, Chief Minister of the state Mr. Vijay Rupani addressed a press conference in Gandhinagar. Addressing the media, CM Rupani said, “ The new rules will be implemented in the state from 16th September, 2019. The implementation will be done in a strict manner in order to ensure the safety of people.

Further, citizens can present the required documents to the concerned office in a digital medium, i.e a person can keep a soft copy of his license and other documents saved in his/her mobile phone and when asked by the concerned officer, he/she can show the saved soft copy.”

Mr. Rupani further added, “ The base rate for the fines will be lower than the one proposed by the Union Government”.
