Election Commission of India review of Electors Verification Program

Visit of Hon. Chief Election Commissioner, Election Commission of India to Gujarat and the review of Electors Verification Program

Honorable Chief Election Commissioner, Shri Sunil Arora visited Ahmedabad on 15.11.2019 to review the progress achieved in Electors Verification Programme. The Commission has launched the Electors Verification Programme on 01.09.2019 with objectives of purification of Electoral Roll and corrections in elector’s details wherever required. Hon. CEC has reviewed the work done in EVP district wise with CEO of the State and District Election Officers. About 99.54% of the work under the Electors Verification Program is completed in the State. The Chief Election Commissioner expressed satisfaction for the work done under the programme and given necessary guidance to complete the remaining work.

In the meeting, Chief Election Commissioner discussed regarding facility of postal ballot for Senior Citizens, PwD Electors and Personnel engaged in Essential Services and emphasized on the importance of providing the facility to maximum number of eligible citizens. In addition to this, Hon. CEC has also suggested that the SVEEP activities to be implemented more effectively and could be implemented adopting innovative and area based activities keeping in mind the requirements of the region/area. In the meeting, senior officers of the Election Commission of India, Shri Umesh Sinha, Secretary General; Sh. Dilip Sharma, Director General (Election Expenditure Monitoring) and Ms. Mona Srineevas, Director were also present. Dr. S. Murali Krishna, Chief Electoral Officer, Gujarat, Shri Ashok Manek, Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Shri S M Patel, Additional Chief Electoral Officer, District Election Officers and other senior officers of the Chief Electoral Officer’s office were also present.
