Reebok x ENGINEERED GARMENTS LX2200, Available December 8

(BOSTON) November 30, 2022 – Today, Reebok and New York-based clothing brand Engineered Garments have unveiled their collaborative three-part LX2200 sneaker capsule, bringing earthy elements and mixed material applications to the ‘80s-inspired runner. The Engineered Garments x Reebok LX2200 ($140 – FZ5846, FZ5847, FZ5848) is available December 8 exclusively from Engineered Garments before its wider global release December 10 from Reebok.com and select retailers.

Launching this past summer, Reebok’s LX2200 offered a contemporary and elevated take on the LX8500, the brand’s luxe runner introduced in 1985. Today, in the spirit of reimagination, Engineered Garments have applied their unique design language to the classic road shoe, leveraging mismatched patchwork and outdoor-inspired colors and graphics true to the “EG” brand.

“To design this shoe, we utilized basic earth colors and applied our traditional brand aesthetic through material mixtures and an asymmetrical color scheme,” commented Daiki Suzuki, Founder of Engineered Garments.

For more than two decades, Suzuki’s Engineered Garments has explored beyond the boundaries of workwear formalism, through clothing design. The result is a patchwork of complementary patterns – madras, polka dot, floral, Glen plaid – carried by menswear pieces fabricated in taffeta, ripstop nylon, twill, or satin. The brand melds everything American, while drawing on the codes of Depression-era suiting and mid-70’s military detailing for an aesthetic that – through its stark incompatibility with historical references – is equally at home in past and present.​ 

Bringing the product and story to life visually, a photographic campaign shines light on New York’s hidden spaces dear to the Engineered Garments brand.

“We wanted to highlight elements of New York City that are not normally seen in campaigns,” continued Suzuki. “In particular, Flushing Meadows, home of the 1939 and 1964 World’s Fair Grounds, was a setting that felt genuine as it has so much historical significance.”
