Sant’Agata Bolognese, 21 October 2025 – On the occasion of World Energy Day, celebrated on 22 October and dedicated to promoting the responsible and sustainable use of energy resources, Automobili Lamborghini announces the completion of the expansion of its photovoltaic plant at the Sant’Agata Bolognese facility. The plant marks a further step in the company’s decarbonisation strategy and strengthens the site’s energy autonomy.

Lamborghini’s journey in renewable energy began in 2010 with the installation of its first photovoltaic system, later expanded to cover a total area of 15,000 m²: one of the largest in the region at the time, capable of generating over 2 million kWh per year and reducing approximately 800 tonnes of CO₂ annually[1].

The expansion of the photovoltaic plant comes at a symbolic year for Automobili Lamborghini, which in 2025 celebrates ten years since achieving on-balance carbon neutrality[2] at its production site. This historic milestone, reached in 2015 as a voluntary and pioneering initiative, made the Sant’Agata Bolognese facility the first within the Audi Group and the first in the world to receive neutrality certification from DNV[3]. Since then, Automobili Lamborghini has maintained this status despite doubling its production area, thanks to an integrated strategy combining facility expansion and investments in energy efficiency, direct emissions reduction, and projects to offset residual emissions.

With the newly completed expansion, which focused on the warehouse area, the overall capacity of the plant has increased further: it can now produce an approximately 2.89 million additional kWh per year, ensuring an estimated reduction of 1,200 tonnes of CO₂ annually[4]. The project involved the installation of more than 4,000 new photovoltaic panels over approximately 12,000 m² of warehouse roof, with a total installed capacity of 2.5 MWh.

The Manifattura Lamborghini is a laboratory of innovation, demonstrating how operational excellence and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand,” said Ranieri Niccoli, Chief Manufacturing Officer of Automobili Lamborghini. “The expansion of the photovoltaic plant represents a tangible investment in sustainability and a further step forward in our decarbonisation roadmap, in the precise year we celebrate ten years of carbon neutrality at the site.”

Announced to coincide with World Energy Day, the expansion confirms Automobili Lamborghini’s commitment to systematically reducing the carbon footprint of its production site while simultaneously strengthening energy independence through renewable sources.
