Sant’Agata Bolognese/Donington Park, 5 October 2025 – Lamborghini claimed a one-two finish in the final round of the British GT Championship season as Barwell Motorsport’s Sandy Mitchell and Alex Martin led home team-mates Rob Collard and Hugo Cook at Donington Park.

Mitchell and Martin started second on the grid in their #78 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 but worked their way into the lead of the two-hour season finale with just under an hour remaining after the polesitting #1 Huracán of Collard and Cook had to serve an additional 10-seconds success penalty.

It is Lamborghini’s second win of the season, 31st in British GT history and the 199th success for the Huracán GT3 since making its debut in 2015. Additionally, Barwell Motorsport achieved its 28th championship race win.

The weekend began strongly for the pair of Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2s on Friday with the #78 of Martin and Mitchell setting the third quickest time in first free practice before going fastest in the second session. Come qualifying, Lamborghini was the brand to beat as Collard and Cook topped the combined times to take pole position. The Sant’Agata Bolognese firm locked out the front-row of the grid with the #78 lining up second.

Off the rolling start, the two Barwell Lamborghinis maintained their place at the head of the field, either side of an early safety car intervention. Collard started the #1 and opened up a healthy lead over Martin inside the first half an hour. The gap, which had been as big as five seconds, then began to come down towards the end of the hour with Martin at the wheel of the #78.

With the #1 required to spend an additional 10-seconds stationary at the pit-stop due to finishing on the podium at the previous round, the #78 moved into the lead with Mitchell taking over from Martin. Entering the final hour, the weather began to change, and rain started to fall.

Mitchell found himself with a lead of over 20-seconds, but the weather remained an unwelcome variable, alternating between light and heavy rain. Such was the dominance of the Lamborghini Huraca2n GT3 EVO2, however, that both the #78 and #1 were well clear of the third-placed Mercedes of Maxi Götz by the end of the race.

Mitchell and Martin, therefore, came home to take victory by 30.945s, with Cook and Collard a comfortable second, completing the Barwell Motorsport one-two result. In the final standings, full-season driver Cook ended the year as runner-up in the points, with Martin and Collard fourth. Despite only contesting a partial campaign, 2020 British GT champion Mitchell secured eighth in the final standings.

Lamborghini Factory Driver, Sandy Mitchell: “It’s been quite a tricky season overall this season, where some of the rounds haven’t gone our way, but we started the year well at Donington with a P2 and then ended the year with a one-two for the team. It’s well deserved, we’ve been quick all weekend and we kept things simple during the race, making all the right calls, with the tyres especially.”
