The Street Soccer Foundation is proud to announce the launch of a landmark event to celebrate its 10-year anniversary: the National Street Soccer Legacy Cup 2025, taking place on Friday 12 December 2025, at the Derby Racecourse venue.
The Legacy Cup will bring together approximately 150 young people from Street Soccer Academy programmes nationwide — all of whom have completed the charity’s flagship 12-week personal development and employability programme. The event offers these young men and women a unique opportunity to represent the professional Club Community Organisation that hosted their Academy, competing in a national 5-a-side tournament filled with meaning, pride and celebration.
The Street Soccer Academy programme supports vulnerable young people aged 18–30 who have experienced homelessness, been at risk of becoming homeless, or faced significant personal challenges including unemployment, mental health struggles, or trauma. The programme uses football as a catalyst to build confidence, motivation, resilience, and positive mindsets, while helping participants transition into work, education or further training.
Sky Sports is expected to attend and cover the event, further shining a national spotlight on the young people and their inspirational journeys. Additionally, global sports brand New Balance will be present, gifting every participant a brand-new pair of football boots — a gesture made possible with the support of New Balance athlete Bukayo Saka.
In celebration of its 10-year milestone, the Foundation will also unveil its new official logo during the event.
The Founder and CEO of the SSF is former, Charlton, Millwall and Gillingham footballer Keith Mabbutt, who will attend the tournament, marking a full-circle moment for the charity he launched in 2015 with the belief that football could transform young lives. The Legacy Cup represents the culmination of a decade of growth, impact and commitment to supporting vulnerable young people nationwide.
The event is proudly supported through the charity’s corporate campaign, The Big Goal — a national movement mobilising UK businesses to help eradicate youth homelessness. Through corporate membership, companies directly fund Street Soccer Academy delivery across the country, enabling hundreds of young people each year to access life-changing support.
The Foundation is encouraging businesses across the UK to join The Big Goal ahead of the 31 December 2025 deadline for the 2026 campaign. Existing corporate members and supporters are warmly welcomed to attend the National Street Soccer Legacy Cup.
Keith Mabbutt, Founder & CEO, commented: “The Legacy Cup is a celebration of young people, of resilience, and of what can be achieved when football, business and community come together. This day represents the true heart of the Foundation — offering young people not only an unforgettable experience, but a platform for inspiration and positive change.”
The Legacy Cup is expected to be a powerful and uplifting event, reflecting the Foundation’s mission and showcasing the continued support of club partners, sponsors and businesses committed to changing young lives through football.
