Sant’Agata Bolognese, 28 July 2025 – In the process of protecting and enhancing the company’s legacy, Lamborghini Polo Storico relies on the Comitato dei Saggi (Experts Committee), a group that varies over time comprised of former employees, who have been protagonists of the company’s history and conserve its technical and cultural memory. As living testimonies to Lamborghini’s past, these experts – also called the “Seniores” inside the company – make a crucial contribution to the processes of certification, restoration and archival reconstruction, thanks to expertise accrued in various departments and their specific knowledge, which is often not documented in the official archive. For its tenth anniversary, Lamborghini Polo Storico celebrates the value of this collaboration in a video featuring three current experts it works with, who embody a unique legacy of experience, dedication and passion.

Established in 2017 and named in memory of engineer Paolo Stanzani, one of the key figures in the history of Automobili Lamborghini, the Comitato dei Saggi has included automotive legends such as Giampaolo Dallara and Mauro Forghieri. Today, the committee is composed of individuals who may be less well-known to the general public but who have played a determining role in strategic areas such as homologation, electronics, and management of spare parts and production, making an essential contribution to the growth and technical excellence of the company and its products.

Walter Rinaldi, who began at Lamborghini as a production forklift operator and subsequently became head of production procurement and of the purchasing office, was born in Sant’Agata Bolognese and worked at Lamborghini from 1966 to 2010. He witnessed the birth of all the cars produced during that time, from the 350 GT to the Murciélago. Giancarlo Barbieri started his career as an engine technician, working alongside historic figures such as Paolo Stanzani, Giampaolo Dallara and Bob Wallace, with whom he also had the honor of conducting an exciting road test following the development of an engine destined for one of the cars he worked on. Over the years, he was personally responsible for the homologation of the Countach and the Diablo in all their versions and for all the markets in which they were sold. Massimo Pizzi, the third expert currently collaborating with Polo Storico, spent his entire career at Lamborghini in the electrical and electronics sector. He began as an electrician on the Countach line, and grew to become head of electrical systems in the Research & Development department, where he contributed to numerous models including iconic one-off cars such as the Sesto Elemento and the Veneno.

To mark its ten years of activity, Polo Storico tells the story of its mission through a series of four short films, each focusing on a fundamental pillar of its work: the Historic Archive; the Comitato dei Saggi; restoration activities; and authenticity certification. The tenth anniversary celebrations, which kicked off in Saint Moritz in February, will continue in the United States during the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance (16 to 18 August), and then conclude in Italy at the Auto e Moto d’Epoca show in Bologna from 23 to 26 October.
