“From our capital of Salt Lake City out to every corner of our state, the Utah 2034 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games should be shared by all Utahns,” said Fraser Bullock, President and Executive Chair of the Organising Committee. “We are all Utahns together. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) welcomed the development, recognising the opportunity for Utah 2034 to deepen engagement beyond Salt Lake City, nationally and internationally, while leveraging the region’s renowned sporting legacy.

“The IOC welcomes this development as the name Utah 2034 will resonate not only in Salt Lake City, but also across Utah, across the United States and around the world. With the longer lead time for this Games edition, local organisers have more runway space than ever to build meaningful connections with communities, activate legacy venues and involve fans early in the journey. Utah 2034 is making excellent use of that opportunity,” said Christophe Dubi, Olympic Games Executive Director.

The new name and initiatives aim to encourage every Utahn to feel connected to the Games – whether as volunteers, spectators or community partners. Brad Wilson, CEO of Utah 2034, underlined the broad vision for community impact: “Under Utah 2034, all Utahns can feel they are a part of the Games, and we are able to showcase to the world our magnificent landscapes, our sense of values, and our people here in Utah and their passion for service to others. Utah 2034 gives us a strong national footprint to rally America around the Games.”

Utah 2034 will draw heavily from the strong legacy of the 2002 edition, with ten of the thirteen venues being reused from the earlier Games. The plan relies entirely on existing or temporary facilities, with all venues being no more than 60 minutes from the Olympic Village. As the state capital, Salt Lake City will sit at the heart of the 2034 Games, with events also taking place in Park City, Soldier Hollow, Snowbasin and Provo.
