Temple of Speed returns to the calendar for the first time in four years

Sant’Agata Bolognese, 27 May 2025 – Four years after it last held a round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe championship, the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza returns to the calendar for round two of the 2025 campaign this weekend. The continental one-make series reserved for the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 arrives at the iconic ‘Temple of Speed’ with over 40 cars expected to take to the grid.

The opening round of the year at Paul Ricard last month delivered plenty of excitement and drama, with rain impacting race two and throwing up a variety of tyre strategies across the field. In total, 16 drivers made their Super Trofeo debuts in France with more set to get their first taste of the championship at Monza, along with a number of series returnees.

Geraci and Knopp take early lead in Pro class

With victory in the second race and fourth in race one, Enzo Geraci and Josef Knopp (Oregon Team) hold a three-point advantage at the top of the Pro standings after the Paul Ricard weekend. Their closest rivals come in the form of Italian teenage sensations Patrik Fraboni and Giacomo Pedrini (Target Racing) who became the youngest Pro winners in the first race of the year. Solo driver Jerzy Spinkiewicz (Uniq Racing) enjoyed a promising start to his season in France, taking a maiden podium finish in race one and just missing out on a double top three result in the season encounter. Having lost a victory on debut, Silas Rovén Rytter and Anthony Pretorius (Leipert Motorsport) will be looking to make amends at Monza, having taken a second and seventh place in France. Also aiming for a strong performance on home soil is Benedetto Strignano (Rexal Villorba Corse) and Guido Luchetti (Target Racing) both of whom recorded podium finishes on the opening weekend.

The Monza round welcomes back a number of drivers to Super Trofeo Europe competition, most notably Kikko Galbiati – who last raced in the championship at the 2020 World Finals – at BDR Competition alongside Belgian teenager Kai Rillaerts. Matteo Desideri and Andrea Fontana will also make their return to the series, with the debuting SF Squadra Corse by SC Motorsport, while cousins Matteo and Giacomo Pollini join the grid with their ASD Giacomo Race squad.

Orudzhev and Schandorff mark Super Trofeo comebacks in Pro-Am

Following a clean sweep of victories at Paul Ricard, Georgi Dimitrov and Stéphan Guerin (CMR) take a comfortable lead in the standings heading into the Monza weekend. The Anglo-French pairing enjoyed a near-perfect weekend, only missing out on a maximum score by not starting race two from pole position. Second in the standings ahead of round two and nine points adrift are Anthony Nahra and Dimitri Enjalbert (BDR Competition) who in turn are just one point ahead of Miloš Pavlović and Alessio Ruffini (ASR). Renaud Kuppens and Hugo Bac (Boutsen VDS) are fourth in the championship but turned heads with third place in race two at Paul Ricard, having been the first crew to switch to slick tyres and setting the fastest race lap.

The Pro-Am field is set to expand to eight cars this weekend, bolstered by the return of several prominent Super Trofeo figures from past years. Teaming up in the #3 ASR Huracán will be five-time class champion Andrzej Lewandowski and the 2019 Super Trofeo Middle East champion and double Lamborghini World Finals winner Frederik Schandorff. Also making his return will be the 2024 Lamborghini World Finals winner Egor Orudzhev who joins last year’s Lamborghini Cup champion Shota Abkhazava (Art-Line). DL Racing will field a car in the class for team owner Diego Locanto and Luca Segù, while Bernardo Pellegrini and Ettore Carminati make their debuts for CRM Motorsport.

Adrian Lewandowski on top of Am

With a win and a second place at Paul Ricard, Adrian Lewandowski (GT3 Poland) took the early lead in the Am class and holds a 12-point margin over third placed Stéphane Tribaudini and Piergiacomo Randazzo (VSR). With Abkhazava moving up to Pro-Am, the VSR duo are Lewandowski’s closest challengers having taken race two victory last month. Raffaele Giannoni (Target Racing) is fourth in the standings, two points behind Tribaudini and Randazzo, with Seweryn Mazur (GT3 Poland) and Massimo Ciglia and Pietro Perolini (Oregon Team) tied for fifth place on 11 points. Veterans Laurent Jenny and Cedric Leimer are back in action at Monza for Autovitesse, while Christian Bortolato (DL Racing) makes his first appearance of the year.

Four points covers the top six in Lamborghini Cup

Things could not be any closer in LB Cup heading into the second round of the season, as Karim Ojjeh (Rexal Villorba Corse) leads the standings thanks to victory and a pair of pole positions from the opening weekend. One point behind, it’s a three-way tie between Holger Harmsen (GT3 Poland), Gerhard Watzinger (Leipert Motorsport) and Claude-Yves Gosselin (Rexal Villorba Corse), all with 18 points. Race two winner in France, debutant Adalberto Baptista (Oregon Team) is just three points further adrift in fifth, tied on points with Luciano and Donovan Privitelio (Rexal Villorba Corse). Confirming the high level of competition in the class, Nigel Bailly and Serge Doms (BDR Competition) are seventh in the standings, seven points behind Ojjeh.

About Lamborghini Super Trofeo

Since its inaugural season in 2009, Lamborghini’s one-make GT series has become one of the most popular and competitive training grounds for professional and amateur drivers alike. Reserved for the 5.2-litre V10 naturally aspirated Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 which produces an output of 620hp, the championship is disputed over six rounds, culminating in the traditional season-ending Lamborghini World Finals where it competes against the North American and Asian championships on the same weekend.

Each race weekend consists of two one-hour practices followed by a pair of 20-minute qualifying sessions. Two races of 50-minutes are held over the weekend, with each featuring a mandatory pit-stop, to be taken between the 20th and 30th minute. Solo driver entries have a minimum pit-stop time of 63-seconds, while two-driver cars must be stationary for 60-seconds. All four classes: Pro, Pro-Am, Am and Lamborghini Cup race alongside each other but fight for separate titles, ensuring competitive action right through the field.
