Mortara and Engstler head up Absolute Corse entry on final full season outing for Huracán GT3
Sant’Agata Bolognese, 13 October 2025 – Lamborghini Squadra Corse will return to the Macau GT World Cup between November 13-16 with a two-car factory effort operated by Absolute Corse as it goes in search of its maiden victory on the historic Guia Circuit. The race is also set to mark the final full-season appearance for the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 before the debut of the new Temerario GT3 in 2026.
Leading the charge for the Sant’Agata Bolognese firm in Macau are Lamborghini Factory Drivers Edoardo Mortara and Luca Engstler. The former’s record on the Guia Circuit over the years speaks for itself. Since his first outing in Macau in 2008, the Swiss driver has stood on the podium a staggering 16 times, including a total of 10 victories across qualification (2008, 2010 and 2017), main (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2017) and support races (2013) in both Formula 3 and GT machinery.
Mortara has contested a partial campaign in the GT World Challenge Asia series with Absolute Corse this season, at the wheel of a Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2, having made his debut in the third generation Huracán towards the end of the 2024 season. The 38-year-old has played an important role in Lamborghini’s GTP operation in 2025, competing alongside compatriot and fellow factory driver Romain Grosjean at the recent IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship rounds at Indianapolis and Road Atlanta.
For Engstler, Macau holds mixed emotions. The German, who became a Lamborghini Factory Driver at the start of the 2025 season, has plenty of experienced of the tricky Guia Circuit from his touring car days, but was ruled out of both the qualification and main races last year following a heavy crash in qualifying. A three-time race winner in GT World Challenge Europe this season – most notably triumphing alongside fellow factory drivers Mirko Bortolotti and Jordan Pepper in the Spa 24 Hours in June – Engstler is aiming to bounce back on the streets of Macau.
The weekend format remains largely the same as previous years, with a 12-lap/60-minute qualification race determining the grid for the 17-lap/70-minute main race. Prior to the qualification race, a 30-minute qualifying session will take place as normal but, new for the 2025 edition, the fastest 10 cars will duke it out in the Q2 Superpole session. Introduced to minimise the impact of red flags and traffic, the Superpole will allow all cars to run on fresh tyres and produce some of the fastest laps of the weekend.
This will be Lamborghini’s fourth entry in the Macau GT World Cup (previously entering the race in 2016 and 2017) and second with the Huracán GT3 EVO2. The race did not hold FIA World Cup status between 2020 and 2022, but Lamborghini did record a pair of fourth place finishes in the Macau GT Cup event in 2022, with Kang Ling.
