- Mathys Jaubert and Daniel Juncadella have been confirmed as part of Genesis Magma Racing’s driver lineup for the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship
- The two drivers won their third race of the European Le Mans Series season last weekend at Silverstone, competing in the LMP2 class as part of the Genesis Magma Racing Trajectory Program

Le Castellet, France, 18 September 2025: Genesis Magma Racing has signed Mathys Jaubert and Daniel Juncadella to join the driver lineup for the team’s debut season in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2026. The pair will make their Hypercar class debut in the Genesis Magma Racing GMR-001, joining André Lotterer and Luis Felipe “Pipo” Derani, already confirmed as the first two drivers for the team.
Drivers’ Promotion Shows Value of Genesis Magma Racing Trajectory Program
French driver Jaubert and Spaniard Juncadella are currently part of the lineup in the IDEC Sport-run, Genesis Magma Racing-supported LMP2 team in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) together with fellow Trajectory Program driver, Briton Jamie Chadwick.
The decision to promote the two drivers after less than a season of Prototype racing was made taking into consideration how quickly both drivers have adapted to, and overcome, the challenges presented in the ELMS.
They made an immediate impression in their Prototype racing debuts, winning their class as the season-opener in Barcelona, before scoring an outright victory at Le Castellet. In their most recent victory, last weekend at Silverstone, both Jaubert and Juncadella showed excellent awareness of the race situation in constantly changing conditions, as well as the strong pace needed to take victory. Following the win, they sit second in the ELMS championship, six points behind with just one round remaining.
Jaubert was also part of the LMP2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where he set the fastest race lap for the #18 car. Their progression into the WEC lineup is another example of the rapid decision-making of the “hyperspeed” culture at the core of Genesis Magma Racing.
“The target for the Trajectory Program was always to support drivers and give them the opportunity to prove they could step up to our WEC lineup,” said Genesis Magma Racing Team Principal Cyril Abiteboul. “That we are already in a position where we can bring Mathys and Dani in for 2026 is a massive credit to them.”
Abiteboul continued: “Together with Jamie Chadwick, Mathys and Dani have adapted brilliantly to Prototype racing, as their performances since the first race of the ELMS season show. More importantly, they improved during the season, learning from each weekend, something which we expect to continue with their arrival in Hypercar. We took some risks to look outside of Prototype racing for our Trajectory Program drivers. It is another risk to bring them into our WEC lineup for 2026, but risks can bring rewards as we’ve seen. In Mathys and Dani we have two drivers who are new to Hypercar that have the opportunity to show their abilities and create some surprises, just as they have in LMP2.”
“We’ve been closely following the performance of Mathys and Dani in the ELMS this season,” said Gabriele Tarquini, Genesis Magma Racing Sporting Director. “They’ve done a very good job all season, constantly improving and adapting to the challenges of the series. Their relative lack of experience in Prototype racing will be balanced by the other four drivers in our lineup to give us a great mix of experience, and new drivers to Hypercar who are hungry and motivated to win.”
Jamie Chadwick remains part of the Genesis Magma Racing Trajectory Program. Full details of her plans for 2026 will be announced at a later date.
New Additions Set to Join Upcoming GMR-001 Tests
“It’s been my goal for the last couple of years to step up to the Hypercar class,” said Juncadella. “I’ve been racing for the last two years in WEC in the LMGT3 class, so it fits well for me to step up in a championship that I know very well. It’s perfect as well to do it with Genesis Magma Racing, to be starting from scratch with brand that will hopefully be in the championship for many years.”
Both Jaubert and Juncadella will get their first chance to drive the GMR-001 Hypercar at upcoming tests to begin to gain experience and shape the development of the car, working with their new team-mates André Lotterer and Luis Felipe Pipo Derani.
“I’m really excited to be joining the Genesis Magma Racing WEC lineup,” said Jaubert. “For me, it’s a big step in my career and a chance to measure myself against the best in the world. The Trajectory Program and my experience in ELMS have been invaluable, not only in learning the technical side and managing long stints, but also in understanding the teamwork and consistency needed at this level. In the WEC this is even more important, so it’s great to immediately start working with the team at the tests.”
Juncadella said: “The testing we will do this year will be my first real steps in Hypercar. It was cool to see the car for the first time and do the seat fitting, but I’m really looking forward to jumping behind the wheel for the first time and starting to work with the team, André and Pipo to be ready for the first rounds. Qatar will be a big event for us, as the first time Genesis Magma Racing will compete in WEC. Le Mans is always a highlight of the year – I’ve done it twice already, but being in the top class will be really special.”
